The NJSBDC at Rutgers-Newark Smart Business Plan Workshop is offered in 4 hour increments over 4 weeks. This cycle will be held on Fridays and held via ZOOM

All the essential steps will be covered, including drafting the business goals and objectives; identifying the audience; gathering information; researching; describing product and services; marketing and sales planning, and financial projections and reports.

At the completion of the workshop, clients who need additional assistance with fine-tuning their business plans will have an opportunity to have a Business & Financial Plan Review.

A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION will be issued after participating in all 16 hours of the Smart Business Plan Workshop. Costs include:

Week 2: Understanding Market Research & Developing a Marketing Plan

Week 3: Business Plan Financials (Part I)

Financial Plan; Introduction; Start up Financial Summary; Important Assumption Key Financial Indicators; Break-even Analysis; Balance Sheet; Cash Flow Statements; Profit & Loss Statements; Income Statement; Business Ratios

Week 4: Business Plan Financial (Part II)

Financial Reporting; Preparation & Interpreting Business Financial Statements; Financial projections; Supporting documents requirements.

Dr. Tendai Ndoro - Regional Director NJSBDC at Rutgers Newark

Dr. Tendai Ndoro has a PhD in Public Administration and serves as Regional Director for the NJSBDC at Rutgers-Newark Business School. Dr. Ndoro has received numerous awards for her work as an economic development expert and a business woman. She is also a trained Baldrige Examiner. In collaboration with private/public entities she promotes small business development, community & economic development initiatives.

Jonathan M. Torres - Business and Data Services Librarian Rutgers University-Newark.

Jonathan is the Business and Data Services Librarian and Graduate Student Services Coordinator specializing in teaching data and information literacy and statistical and data visualization software. He provides course-integrated and resource-specific instruction in business-based subject areas, develops, and delivers data-related workshops, and offers consultative support such as finding data sets, assisting with data analysis software, and data management planning for universities, government, and external organizations.
