Capital Formation Workshop Series Overview

Capital Formation

Capital formation is the process of helping business owners become ready for and successfully secure business financing. This series focuses specifically on loans, lines of credit, microloans, and SBA-backed financing - helping clients prepare lender-ready documents and financials, identify appropriate lending options, complete applications, and move toward approval and funding.

Series Format

Three 90-minute virtual, hands-on workshops delivered monthly from October through December 2026. Each session will provide simple worksheets, templates, and guided exercises that clients can begin during the workshop and continue through one-on-one Capital Specialist counseling.

Key Objectives

The series will help business owners understand what lenders require, determine how much financing they need and why, prepare the necessary business and financial materials, and identify appropriate lending options. Each workshop will build on the previous session, moving clients step-by-step from initial capital readiness toward a complete loan package and lender engagement.

Session-Level Goals

· October - Understand what lenders need and identify the business, financial, and supporting documents that must be prepared before applying for a loan.

· November - Work through the numbers needed for a loan request, including how much to borrow, use of funds, revenue, expenses, cash flow, debt schedule, and financial projections.

· December - Understand available loan options, prepare for lender conversations, and determine the next steps toward lender matching, pre-qualification, and loan application.

Expected Outcomes

Participants will leave the series with clearer financing needs, stronger lender-ready documentation, and specific next steps toward applying for a business loan. Clients who are ready to move forward will be encouraged to schedule one-on-one sessions with the Capital Specialist to complete outstanding materials, receive lender matching support, begin applications or pre-qualification, and receive transaction support through approval and funding.
