.Ø From Loan Application to Lender Decision: What Comes Next

.Submitting a business loan application is only one step in the financing process. This hands-on workshop will help participants understand what may happen after they apply, including lender review, requests for additional information, questions about the business and financials, potential loan terms, and different lender decisions. Participants will learn how to stay organized, respond to lender requests, understand the information they receive, and determine appropriate next steps.

Workshop Goals

· Understand the general process from loan application and lender review through a lender decision.

· Recognize the business, financial, credit, and repayment information lenders may evaluate.

· Learn how to respond to lender questions and requests for additional documentation.

· Understand key loan terms, including loan amount, interest rate, repayment term, monthly payment, fees, collateral, and guarantees.

· Determine appropriate next steps when additional information is requested, different financing terms are offered, or an application does not move forward.

Workshop Materials

  1. Lender Review and Follow-Up Checklist

  2. Business Loan Terms Comparison Worksheet

  3. Lender Decision and Next Steps Action Plan

Key Takeaways

· A clearer understanding of what may happen after submitting a business loan application and what lenders may require during their review.
· A practical framework for reviewing loan terms, responding to lender requests, and keeping an active application moving forward.

· A clear next-step plan based on the status of the financing request, including when additional preparation or another lender option may need to be considered.

Capital Specialist Follow-Up

Participants will be encouraged to schedule a one-on-one working session with the Capital Specialist (Bhuva Shakti, NJSBDC Rutgers-Camden) for support with active loan applications, lender-requested documentation, financing questions, loan terms, or applications that require additional work. Where appropriate, the Capital Specialist can also help identify other lending options and provide transaction support as the client moves through the financing process.

Each workshop can be attended individually or as part of the full series, and recordings will be available for clients who want to review other workshop topics.
